We went to Fort Pulaski with Laurie and George on this overcast day. The Fort was built to protect the port of Savannah during the Civil War and it was predicted to be inpenetrable against the Union forces. That proved to not be true and the Fort fell to the Union in 1862.

Since we were famished from learning so much history, we went to the Crab Shack for lunch.
The shack has a pond with gators that cannot be returned to the wild animal kingdom so they have been put in a pen in the wild human kingdom, the bar!
Then off to Tybee Island. Tybee means "salt" in Euchee Indian language. We went to the beach which was devoid of shells except for cocinas. And the water is not blue, its muddy looking. Still, there is nothing like a walk on the beach.
Tybee Island Lighthouse was next. We walked the 175 long steps to the top and it was worth the walk. I would not recommend walking it after two Big Kahuna drinks.
